How many panels does your court need?
Pick a sport or type your own dimensions, choose the panel size, and the calculator returns the panel count, the cutting allowance and the edge pieces for the perimeter. No email required.
Your court
Dimensions are the playing area inside the lines. Add the run-off your federation or school requires — 2 m each side is common for basketball. Panel sizes above are the formats we produce; 304.8 mm is the standard.

Panel counts use a full grid fit (panels are square, so the last row and column are cut). Order the "panels to order" figure — the difference is your spare stock for repairs.

How the numbers are built
Interlocking panels are square, so a court is covered as a grid: the length divided by the panel width, rounded up, times the width divided by the panel width, also rounded up. A 28 × 15 m court with a 304.8 mm panel needs 92 panels along the length and 50 along the width — 4,600 panels. The last row on two sides is cut to the line, which is why the order carries a cutting allowance.
Edge pieces are a separate count. They follow the perimeter — 86 m on a full basketball court — divided by the panel width and rounded up, giving 283 pieces. Corners use the same profile, so no extra part is needed. If the court sits inside a wall or a kerb, the ramps can be omitted on those sides.
What the calculator does not cover: subbase build-up, geotextile, line marking and labour. Those depend on the ground you have. Send a site plan or a photo of the base and we return the full bill of quantities with the panel layout drawing.
Frequently asked questions
How many panels fit a full basketball court?
On a 28 × 15 m playing area with the 304.8 mm panel, the grid needs 92 panels across the length and 50 across the width — 4,600 panels before cutting allowance. The calculator on this page returns the exact figure for any size and panel format.
Should I order extra panels for cutting?
Yes. Perimeters rarely divide into whole panels, so the last row on each side is cut. Most projects allow 3–5% extra, and 8% for irregular areas with columns, curves or several separate zones. Keep the offcuts: they are useful for later repairs.
How do I work out edge ramps?
Edge pieces run around the perimeter, not across the field, so divide the perimeter by the panel width and round up. A 28 × 15 m court has an 86 m perimeter — 283 pieces at 304.8 mm.
Does the calculator include the subbase?
No. It counts panels and edge pieces only. Subbase, geotextile, line marking and labour are separate line items — send us the site plan and we will set out the full bill of quantities.
